Community Service Opportunities

The Hilltown CDC is organizing a Hilltown Spring Festival on May 10 at the Cummington Fairgrounds from 10 AM to 6 PM. Student volunteers can help by getting the fairgrounds ready 2 days ahead of time (sweeping, moving tables, decorating tents, etc.), staffing booths and selling raffle tickets on the day of the event, and/or cleaning up afterwards. The Edwards Public Library in Southampton is looking for assistance with their annual book sale to be held on May 17. Community service hours for moving and sorting books are available beginning May 6-10. Contact Nancy Baum, library secretary, at nlbaum@charter.net.

NEW! The Westhampton Memorial Library is looking for as many volunteers as possible to help out with their annual book & plant sale. Community service hours are available on Friday, May 16 from 3-7PM and on Saturday, May 17 from 9 AM-2PM. Call Beverly Montague at 527-1068 if you are interested.

There will be an all day fundraising event on Saturday, July 19 at the Turner Pavilion on Lawton HIll Road in Williamsburg with lots of opportunities for community service. The Booster Club is looking for volunteers to help in the snack shack for the upcoming spring sports season. Contact Barbara Prickett @ 527-5799 or email hrhsboosters@hr-k12.org.

The Westhampton Fire Department can offer community service opportunities on an ongoing basis. Projects include sweeping, snow removal and painting. Contact John Zimmerman @zed.group@comcast.net if you are interested.

The SYAA would like to invite HRHS student athletes to volunteer as mentors and assistant coaches. Contact Julie Parks, 527-8648, if you are interested.

The Commonwealth Opera would welcome student volunteers to help out with either administrative or production-related tasks. You can learn more about them
