Databases
Facts on File Suite of Databases
Please ask the librarians for the passwords
The most useful choices within the databases will be the World Almanac or possibly Modern World History.
CultureGrams
Provided in part through a grant from the Community Foundation of Western Mass.
Ask the librarians for the password and username. This site is similar to the World Almanac. Choose the World Edition box. Then you can use the pull-down menu to select your country or the interactive map. There are links to listen to the national anthem of your country, the correct pronunciation of your country and photos.
The CIA World Factbook
This online source is sponsored by the Central Intelligence Agency and provides current statistics about the country you are researching. Never print the Factbook because it is an extremely long file. Use the pull-down "Select a Country or Location" menu to start your search.
The CIA World Leaders Page
Another site sponsored by the Central Intelligence Agency. It enables you to locate the name of the current leaders for the country you are researching. Use the alphabetical table of contents to find the name of your country.
